Call to Action

The Ravalli County Growth Policy will be up for a vote in this coming election. Voters will have two choices:

  • Voting AGAINST repealing the growth policy ensures our future will follow the wishes of citizens;

  • Voting FOR repealing the growth policy ensures we will have no say in how our county grows and what that growth may do to our quality of life for at least another half decade.

  • The Ravalli County Growth Policy was approved by a vote of citizens in 2004 by a 65% to 35% vote. Why do we have to vote on it again?
  • Repealing the growth policy will give more power to outside speculators, allowing them to decide where large new subdivisions will be located in the future.
  • In the face of rapid growth and change, the Ravalli County Growth Policy guides the county in making decisions that protect farm and ranch land, water quality and supply, and wildlife habitat while also providing for sensible, sustainable growth.
  • Without the growth policy, we have no plan for the future, no say in development, and no way to protect our quality of life.
  • If we fail to take the reins and plan for our own future, we risk handing our way of life over to blind luck and outside speculators.
